Weekly Feature | Lori Pepe Photography

Mama's - can you believe it is November? Hope you all are doing great and keeping it together during this busy season. This week, our guest judge is Lori, from Lori Pepe Photography. I (Allison) connected with Lori months back.  I have had the privilege of talking one on one with her and working with her during her photography journey. Not only does she have a huge heart  - she is super talented and has such an incredible eye for the everyday. I love seeing her work in my newsfeed and calling her a fellow photographer and friend. Make sure you go and show her some love. This week - Lori picked the theme { from the cutting room floor} and there have been so many awesome images.

Now, let's get to know Lori even better....

Where do you hail from?
I was born in Battipaglia, Italy and moved to the US when I was 2 1/2. I have lived on Long Island, NY ever since.
I have spent most of my life missing my extended family in Italy, I used to visit often but haven't been there since 2007...way too long. Looking forward to bringing my kids there one of these days to give them a glimpse of where my heart will always be.

Tell us three things about you, unrelated to photography.
I am the wife to one of the most understanding men out there, who I believe was literally made for me as I can be a bit of a lost soul sometimes :-)
After battling multiple miscarriages and all that comes with it, I am now a mom to 2 beautiful babies. My daughter who is 5 and my son that is almost 3. There is hope.
I love chocolate, dancing and wine...not necessarily in that order :-) I CANNOT draw so much as a stick figure to save my life.

When did your photography journey begin?
My photography journey began when I was a young girl, I just didn't know it then. It wasn't until my (now) husband bought me my first DSLR that I really started getting to know the passion I had for it.  It started out as an escape from difficult times...taking mostly landscape images. It has now evolved into documenting my children's lives. I love that they will have all these memories to look back on.

Give us a photography related goal you hope to accomplish?
This has been a tough one for me. I would love to transition to strictly documentary/lifestyle photography, but I find it almost impossible to get clients who fully understand the concept. Heck, I'm not sure if I fully understand the concept myself, lol. This is definitely my goal for 2016! I would also love to be able to let go of the "I'm not good enough" feeling, which I know many of you can relate to. It's tough, right?! I think we all need to start embracing who we are, and stop making excuses for all rock! This is part of the reason I chose this particular theme.
I have met some amazing people in the community and I am looking forward to getting to know them better as well as meeting new friends!

What is your favorite piece of gear you own, or what are you lusting after?
My eyes, where would I be without them? lol. Oh, and my 70-200mm 2.8...LOVE that lens. Of course being a photographer, there can never be enough gear in your arsenal and I am currently trying to convince anyone who will listen how much I NEED the Sigma 35mm ART. I might also want to upgrade my camera...yeah, there's that. haha!

Keep those {from the cutting room floor} submissions coming in and have a fabulous week, Mama's!

XOXO, Allison and the Mama's
