Weekly Feature | Heather Butler Photography

Most of the time when we feature our amazing judges here at The Snappy Mama one of the first things I (Allison) say to myself is "I would fly to this photographer to have my photos done with them." This is exactly what I said about Heather from Heather Butler Photography. I love how earthy, organic and rich her photos are. Not only that - they capture such true emotion. Yup - I need to book with her. Enough said. This week she has picked the theme {ablaze with color} and we are loving all of the submissions. (Especially me, since we don't have much of a fall here in Hawaii.)

Now, let's get to know Heather better!

Tell us three things about you, unrelated to photography.
1.  We are a military family.  My husband has been in the USAF for over eleven years; we’ve recently PCS’d (moved) to Dover, Delaware!
2.  I have been homeschooling my three kiddo’s for three years now.  I have to say, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing them actually retain something that I’ve taught them! lol
3.  I am a self-proclaimed introvert, but when you actually get me talking…I have no filter!  The craziest things MAY come out of my mouth.  Haha, shameless confession there. :-D

Name a photographer who inspires you?
Hands down I am going to have to say Julie Paisley. I have adored her generosity and raw honesty from the very beginning.  She once said that when she teaches others she does it with the intentions of seeing them go further than herself.  With the majority of the industry being about ones self fulfillment, that really stuck out to me and impressed me so much that I knew it had to be applied to my own life.

What is your best advice you would give yourself if you could go back to the beginning?
This is your passion and what ignites your being. Go after it and never settle. Set your standards high and stick to your guns. Shoot when and where you want. Don’t be afraid to educate your clients; you want them to be as equally passionate about what is being created.  When you allow yourself to be fearless about what you are passionate about, the possibilities will be endless and your heart will shine through.

Have a great rest of the week, Mamas! Keep your {ablaze with color} submissions coming in!

XOXO, Allison and the Mama's
