Weekly Feature | Jessica Byrum

It's Wednesday and that means time to get to know our guest judge, Jessica Byrum from Jessica Byrum Photography and Design and now also The Adventures of Tater Tot Island. Okay, can I just say, I have always been a big fan of Jessica's work, but now that she is devoting such a fun page to her personal family photos and day-to-to. It is awesome -- make sure you go and check it out!

And now -- let's get to know Jessica better....

1. When did your photography journey being?
I have always had a camera in my hand, but I truly started my photography journey last August when my daughter was 7 months old, and I was 5 months pregnant..and bored. I forced myself to learn manual mode and Photoshop, and have never looked back. I wasn't booking clients, but it has helped me tremendously now that I am booking again. I am SO much more comfortable with my camera in
my hands now.

2. Name a photographer who inspires you. What draws you to their work?
I am inspired by Nicole VonHatten of Gracelyn Photography. I love the photos of her daughter and how she captures her in her true self. Her golden hour images are just stunning! And she captures people so naturally. She is great!

3. Canon or Nikon? Something else? Sell us on your brand!
I shoot Canon, always have. But I have nothing against Nikon because my best friend shoots our family photos with a Nikon.

4. Give us a photography related goal you hope to accomplish within a year.

This year, I want to be successful with the few weddings that I have booked. It's a huge undertaking for me, and I am so nervous AND excited! What a huge moment to photograph for someone, and knowing there are no "do-overs" is a little stressful..but I am thriving on that stress.

5. What program do you use to edit your images?
I use Photoshop. I was all Lightroom until I made myself learn PS, and I have never looked back. I love the ability to tweak and adjust my photos until they are just right. And sometimes, make them a little extra special with the fun features Photoshop offers.

Don't forget mamas, to keep submitting to the theme that Jessica has chosen - {toddler troubles}So many adorable submissions already! Remember you have until NOON CST time to get them in!

xoxo, Allison and the Mama's
