Weekly Feature | Pinball Photography

Hey, mamas!

Hope you are having a great week!  We are a little tardy getting this week's feature up, but I'm hoping you'll all tune in because this is one you do NOT want to miss!
We are thrilled to have Kyla of Pinball Photography with us this week.

I fell in love with her work the very instant I saw it...and I'm sure you will know EXACTLY why if you're just now seeing it, too!  We had the opportunity to ask Kyla a few questions about her journey as a photographer.  Let's see what she had to say:

Tell us about your start in photography:

Back in 2009 I was able to finally purchase my first DSLR. I had our first Child in 2010 and like so many mama's, this is when my journeyreally began to take shape.
Name a photographer who inspires you. Why?

I have a whole wack of photographer's that inspire me, but I'll pick one lady that I have followed since 2008, Andrea Hanki. She knows light like the back of her hand and I find myself looking at her images a little dumfounded with her creativity.
The burning question: Canon?  Nikon? Other?

I'm a Canon girl, my brain just seems to work that way. Anytime I've tried a Nikon I feel like I am having to tell my brain to think backwards, maybe it would come to me, but for now I'm really happy with my mark iii and the much improved focus abilities from the mark ii I owned.
Tell us about a photography-related goal you have this year:

Funny you should ask about goals with photography. I actually laid one out at the beginning of the year, I wanted to take photos of the people of my heart, and ask them a few questions. Well, I've ended up with a colicky baby, so that has gone on the back burner. I have now pulled in the reigns on that project, and I while they would have been a part of my initial idea this year, I'm now just itching to take photos of my grandparents. I know so many family members would treasure those, myself included.
The 'other' burning question- Editing:  Lightroom? PS? Other?

I do 98% of my editing in lightroom. My images are true to life, they aren't perfect, but they capture moments I want to remember. I want my editing style to be the same way, nothing too intense, enhancing a photo a bit, but not taking away from the moment that is represented in the image. I love lightroom because I find it faster to work with, and you can see the flow of your images together.
True to life, honest, real.  That is exactly how I would describe this lady's beatiful work and I can't wait to see more and more of it!
Love it beyond words.  Thanks for spending time w/ us today, Kyla!  Mamas, be sure to check out her Pinball Photography page and leave her some LOVE!
