{Spotlight on:} Natalie Wheeler

Hey, Mamas!

Boy do we have a treat for you today, and that's to introduce you to this week's guest judge, Natalie Wheeler of Act Naturally photography.  I was just emailing her and telling her that her business name couldn't be more perfect for her work.

I  LOVE how she captures the every day so sharply and beautifully...and just like her page name says, NATURALLY.  Such beautiful work.  Grab a cup of coffee and get acquainted w/ her!

Tell us about your photography journey up until now:

I have been asked this question before, and have always given a literal answer.  But this particular question, phrasing it in terms of a journey, has me rethinking my response.  I can pinpoint  when I got my first DSLR and started taking more pictures, but now I am certain my photography journey began long before then.  The influence of my mom taking many pictures of our childhood and putting them in albums, the need to express myself artistically, and majoring in Anthropology which largely shapes how I view the world- just to name a few.  My photography is very personal and reflects my entire journey in life.

"The only journey is the one within." -Rainer Maria Rilke

Anyone inspiring come to mind that you'd like to share?

I am inspired by so many photographers and could name so many that I love, so it's really hard for me to pick just one.  I think what Joy Prouty of Wildflowers Photography is doing with her Harvest sessions (24 hour sessions and traveling all over) is mind-blowing.  Her work is so real, and honest; it's love and storytelling as photographic art.

Canon?  Nikon?  Other? (the age-old question, haha)

I shoot with a canon 5d Mark ii, and usually have my Sigma 35mm 1.4 attached to it.

Do you have any photography related goals specific to this year?

One of photography goals is to be able to travel more with my family and document the adventures.

Tell us about your processing preferences.  Lightroom?  PS?  Both?

I use Lightroom for the vast majority of my images and LOVE it. I used to only use Photoshop and found I got in my own way too much.  I love being able to edit my photos quickly and simply, and LR allows me to do that.

Ahhhhh... is she like a breath of fresh air or what, mamas? We are really enjoying your {music} shares this week... keep them coming!   Thanks again to Natalie on a great theme and for your time and letting us get to know you better.  Be sure to go and 'like' her page and leave her some snappy mama love like only the fabulous members of our community can!

Have a great week, everyone!
